Linux Security Engineer

Job Description OverviewCVP is seeking a Linux Security Engineer to execute and support the implementation of a successful Cybersecurity program.ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Linux (RHEL, CentOS) ServersRemediate server and software issuesHelp with setting up and racking, stacking and wiring of equipment as needed in data center.Investigate to determine root causes of security issues to perform troubleshooting and problem resolution to restore services.Perform vulnerability remediation and patch validationRemote management and troubleshooting of workstations and serversCollaborate with application teams to perform system maintenance and patch management tasksProvide guidance and support security activities while building relationships with key personnel.Document and inform management with information about security information and event management.Assess information assurance and security requirements based upon the analysis of user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands.Apply know-how to government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures.Document work for leadership, update/create Standard Operating Procedures, and brief staff and customers various tasks.Provide agency with guidance in following NIST, FISMA, Agency Information Security and Privacy, and Cloud Guidelines.QualificationsAbility to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance4-year college degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience or 8 years of experience in lieu of a college degree.Demonstrated hands-on experience and knowledge of Linux platform (i.e. RHEL, CentOS) including administration, management, and troubleshooting for physical and virtual platforms.Performs software upgrades, patch installs, firmware upgrades then test for functionality on a periodic basis.Experience demonstrating strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for security information and event management.Experience with vulnerability remediationExcellent communication skills, both written and oral.Experience with Microsoft Server support when needed.Knowledge of NIST, FISMA, and Cloud Environments.Desired SkillsSecurity+, or other security certification preferredTwo years of federal security support experience preferredDemonstrated hands-on experience and understanding of proactive monitoring concepts, including experience configuring and deploying Network and systems monitoring (i.e. SNMP, Nagios, Splunk, Ansible, Spacewalk, etc.)Demonstrated experience performing trend analysis on overall system health, performance, and capacity management with regard to utilization and growthDemonstrated ability to develop and maintain capacity metricExperience working with software and hardware vendors to resolve issues and share requirementsExperience with ServiceNow, Splunk, Tanium, Elastic and Microsoft Security Solutions a plusLocationKansas City, MO (Hybrid)About CVPCVP is an award-winning healthcare and next-gen technology and consulting services firm solving critical problems for healthcare, national security, and public sector clients.
