Job Description Position OverviewWe're seeking an Director of Safety to establish and lead our corporate-wide safety program across all construction operations. This is a strategic, executive-level role reporting directly to senior leadership, responsible for creating a world-class safety culture across multiple data center construction sites.You'll build the safety program from scratch - your vision, your strategy, your culture.Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred to effectively communicate with our diverse workforce. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Safety Leadership:Develop and implement comprehensive corporate safety program for data center electrical constructionBuild safety infrastructure to support 900+ annual hires and rapid company growthReport directly to executive leadership on safety performance, initiatives, and risksPartner with Operations, Project Management, HR, and Finance on safety integrationTransform safety culture from reactive to proactive across all operationsMulti-Site Safety Oversight:Oversee safety compliance across active construction sitesConduct site safety inspections and audits at data center projectsMonitor electrical work practices (high-voltage, medium-voltage, low-voltage systems)Ensure consistent safety standards across all project locationsElectrical Safety Expertise:Develop electrical safety programs for MV/LV distribution and controlsImplement NFPA 70E arc flash safety protocols and energized electrical work proceduresEstablish lockout/tagout (LOTO) programs for electrical systemsCreate qualified electrical worker (QEW) programs and trainingOversee substation work, switchgear installation, and high-voltage safetyRegulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction) standardsMaintain NFPA 70E compliance (electrical safety, arc flash)Coordinate OSHA inspections and respond to citationsPrepare for and manage safety auditsMaintain relationships with OSHA, EPA, and regulatory agenciesProgram Development:Design safety policies, procedures, and protocolsCreate behavior-based safety programsDevelop KPIs, metrics, and reporting systemsBuild incident investigation and root cause analysis proceduresManage workers' compensation and return-to-work programsCoordinate with captive insurance groups on risk management and safety performanceTraining & Culture:Design and deliver safety training curriculum (OSHA, NFPA 70E, electrical safety)Conduct new hire safety orientationTrain foremen and superintendents on safety leadershipDrive "zero-incident" mindset and proactive hazard identificationCommunicate effectively with bilingual workforce (Spanish/English)Performance Management:Track OSHA recordable incident rates, lost-time injuries, near-missesReduce incident costs and insurance premiumsBenchmark against industry standardsDrive continuous safety improvement Required QualificationsExperience:10+ years safety leadership in construction or industrial environments (required)5+ years executive/director-level safety role (required)Electrical construction or high-voltage environment experience (required)Multi-site safety oversight experienceExperience building safety programs from the ground upDemonstrated success reducing incident rates and transforming safety cultureEducation & Certifications:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field (required)OSHA 500 or 510 Certification (required)Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ASP (strongly preferred)NFPA 70E Qualified Person (required)OSHA 30-Hour Construction (required)Technical Expertise:Deep knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 (Construction Safety)Expertise in NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety, Arc Flash)Understanding of data center and electrical constructionHigh-voltage, medium-voltage, low-voltage electrical systems knowledgeLOTO program developmentIncident investigation and root cause analysisWorkers' compensation managementLeadership:Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferredExecutive presence and ability to influence senior leadershipProven ability to build and lead teamsChange management and culture transformation experienceStrategic thinking and business acumenLocation:Local to Vineland, NJ OR willing to relocate Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related fieldCaptive insurance group experience (risk management, safety performance reporting)Bilingual Spanish/EnglishData center construction experienceCHST certificationIndustrial hygiene or environmental health expertiseExperience scaling safety programs during rapid growthProfessional Engineer (PE) license What We OfferExecutive Compensation:Base Salary: $120,000 - $150,000/yearPerformance bonuses based on safety metricsRelocation assistance (if relocating to Vineland, NJ)Company vehicle or vehicle allowanceBenefits:Health, dental, vision insurance (executive-level plans)401(k) with generous company match4+ weeks PTOLife insurance and disability coverageProfessional development budgetConference attendance Data One Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
