Lecturer, ChemistryDepartment: ChemistryLocation: Westshore CampusReports To: Assoc Dean, Nat Sci-W & SRecruitment Type: External/InternalRequisition ID: req6787Employment Type: Full-Time FacultyUnion Position: Non-UnionWork Schedule: Classes as assigned, standard office hours, other hours as needed.Number of Openings: 1Job Description:Description:Teaches a full range of chemistry courses including majors and non-majors; Capable of teaching any course in a face to face, blended, or online environment.Prepares and delivers lectures to students on various topics in relation to a specific disciplineEvaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments and papersPrepares course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments and handoutsMay be assigned to teach courses on campus or at partner high schools, conduct adjunct instructor observations, and contribute to program developmentKeeps abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, speaking with colleagues and participating in professional conferencesMaintains student attendance records, grades and other required recordsInitiates, facilitates and moderates classroom discussionsAs needed, advises students on academic and vocational curricula and on career issuesPlans, evaluates and revises curricula, course content and course materials and methods of instructionCompiles, administers and grades examinationsCollaborates with colleagues to address teaching and research issuesMaintains regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist studentsSelects and obtains materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipmentMay serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, department matters and academic issuesMay participate in campus and community eventsRequired Qualifications:Master of Science Degree in ChemistryTeaching experienceDemonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite (or equivalent)Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for studentsAdvanced communication (verbal, written and interpersonal) and organizational skillsLogic and reasoning skills to identify solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsSensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse populationPreferred Qualifications:Doctorate Degree in ChemistryCommunity college teaching experienceThis Lectureship is for one Academic Year, classes beginning in Fall 2026. Ability to work a combination of days/evenings/weekends is required.
