Apply today!Job SummaryServes as a Trades Specialist, Lead performing advanced shop procedures in one of the following programs, (fire, life, safety systems, high voltage distribution systems and electrical repairs; steam distribution and boiler repairs; plumbing systems; AC systems; Lock Shop Program). Has responsibility for oversight and coordination of trades personnel within a shop/team. Assists supervisor on a variety of mechanical trade specialty procedures and compliance programs. Assigns tasks, schedules work locations and monitors assigned areas and activities. Coordinates work of employees, including trades, non-trades, contractors and provides general project management for assigned projects. Assists supervisor with training and guidance to ensure that high standards of quality, service and customer satisfaction are maintained. May assume leadership role in the absence of supervisor as assigned and/or designated.Job AccountabilitiesTests fire alarm systems according to current fire codes and regulationsInspect fire alarm systems before, during and after construction projectsCoordinates with Monitoring Station to avoid response to testRun Test on fire alarm system and report to monitoring stationFollow and maintain a highly structured testing scheduleComplete assigned Reg 4 test on timeCandidate should have the ability to accurately discern, and document deficiencies found during an inspection and produce reports accuratelyEnters fire alarm testing documentation into the fire system databasePerforms preventive maintenance on fire systems.Troubleshoots and repairs fire alarm systemsPerforms minor installation of fire alarm system componentsProvide support, guidance, and expertise to the other techsCoordinates with contractors for fire system additions and changesEnables and disables fire systems for construction projects, events andAssign and coordinate day-to-day work orders for team membersMaintenanceAssists with fire drills and evacuation exercisesMaintains stock levels and storage of new and used fire system equipmentKeeps accurate records of materials and time. Ensures proper use of resources and timeResponds to fire/life safety system activations, alarm, trouble and supervisory callsStands in as fire watch when fire systems are impairedMaintains current knowledge on existing and pending legislation within the industryPractices safe driving, ensures company vehicle is kept clean and safeProvides customer service and user training as requiredParticipating in on call rotationRequirements5-7 years previous work experience in fire alarm system inspections or similar trade within fire protection industry CA Blue Card Possess comprehensive knowledge of fire alarm systems and sprinkler systemsKnowledge and understanding NFPA standardsHigh school diplomaAS Degree preferredMust be able to read blueprints, diagrams, operation/product manuals, software/system programsAbility to communicate clearly and effectivelyBe proficient in completing and legible paperworkDemonstrate mechanical and electrical skillsExperience with Notifier, Edwards, and or Simplex a plusMust be punctual, have excellent work ethics and strong organizational skills NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level 2 preferred Certified Notifier Verifier Preferred QualificationsNational Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Fire Alarm Systems Level 2Los Angeles Fire Department Chiefs Regulation 4: Basic and Complex Fire Life Safety Systems Certification REG 4 Basic and Complex Fire Life Safety Systems Certification preferred Other Job FactorsMust obtain Los Angeles Fire Department Chiefs Regulation 4: Emergency Generator and Battery Systems Testers Certification within 6 months.
