Journeyman Diesel Mechanic

Key Responsibilities Diagnose and Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy-duty diesel trucks using advanced diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals (e.g., Cummins Insite, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link). Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, brake adjustments, tire inspections, and chassis lubrication to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance. Component Repairs: Repair or replace critical components such as diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and braking systems. Welding and Fabrication: Perform minor welding, cutting, or fabrication work to repair or modify frames and components as needed. Documentation: Complete accurate service reports, document parts usage, and record maintenance activities for warranty, billing, DOT compliance, and inventory tracking. Customer Interaction: Communicate with drivers and fleet managers regarding repairs, recommendations, and service outcomes. Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA, DOT, manufacturer, and company safety guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Tool & Equipment Management: Maintain shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and service areas to ensure operational readiness. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in diesel or heavy-duty truck repair preferred.
