This role’s primary responsibility is Gas Turbine Test Cell instrumentation calibration, troubleshooting, assisting in system upgrades, and providing support for tooling calibration as needed. Turbine test cells house varying types of instrumentation used to validate the factory acceptability of manufactured equipment. Instrumentation calibration must be completed regularly with traceability to ensure that all manufactured goods sold meet Solar Turbines’ quality standards. Metrology plays a key role in ensuring that measurement devices are operating correctly and record accurate measurements during the equipment testing. In addition to completing instrumentation calibration, this role is key to troubleshooting many of the test cell systems as they are closely related to data acquisition and the instrumentation being used. Typical instrumentation types include Flow Meters, Pressure Transmitters, Temperature Probes, Vibration Equipment, Gas Chromatographs, Weather Stations, Emissions Monitoring Equipment, Hydrogen Test equipment, and PLCs (Programable Logic Controller).Partial relocation assistance available for this role.Principal Accountabilities: Understands, complies, and advocates company EHS procedures and frequently coaches others for safety. Demonstrates sound technical judgment and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex technical problems. Conducts calibration of test cell instrumentation and equipment and is a primary point of contact for validating equipment between calibration cycles. Provides tooling calibration support as required. Trains and mentors lower salary grade technicians.Minimum Requirements: Successful candidate will work 1st shift Minimum of 5 years mechanical or electrical-related experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment Extensive Experience with instrumentation measurements and/or device calibration Proactive problem-solving skills required to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues Demonstrate a commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams Diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairing test equipment Able to read Process and Instrumentation Diagrams and Electrical Schematics Computer skills in navigating programs, capable of running reports, and entering calibration data, and experience with Microsoft Office Suite Will be available to work overtime and weekends to support production (as required) Thorough understanding of the principles of electricity Ohm’s law, and comfortable using multimeterPreferred Requirements Instrumentation Technology or equivalent degree and industry experience with instrumentation measurements or Device calibration Gas Turbine Package Experience and/or Test Cell experience. Prior experience with and understanding of calibration tools and equipment such as pressure calibration equipment, shaker table, oscilloscope, gap voltage tester, PSI bricks or similar, temperature probe hot box PLCs programming for equipment control and data acquisition Experience with weather stations, gas chromatography and emissions systems Experience with precision hand tool calibration Understanding of error analysis, uncertainty methods/calculations, statistical and quality control methods, and ISO requirements, including knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025Visa Sponsorship is not available for this position.
