Business Development

Description: Holden Farms Business Development position reports to the General Manager of Contract Division and is responsible for promoting and developing new and existing barn space for the Nursery/Finishing Division.  Hours: Generally - Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm; times may vary based on business needs  Some weekends necessary   Essential Job Functions  Network and follow up on potential leads to generate new contract opportunities for Holden Farms  Understand and be able to clearly communicate Holden Farms Nursery/Finish contracts and contract management guidelines  Forecast barn space needs as relates to pig flow  Main point of contact for all new and existing contract partners as relates to ICA’s  Oversee General Contractors and construction of new Nursery and Finishing barn sites Responsible for ensuring cost of barns are economical for grower and HFI system  Review barn specifications to ensure they meet Holden Farms’ needs and standards  Understand, follow and uphold Holden Farms Biosecurity expectations as it relates to proximity to other farms  Collaborate with Nursery/Finish Service teams regarding new or existing contracts Update and maintain list of possible Nursery/Finish contract partners  Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with Feed Mills  Maintain regular communication with Contract Growers, HFI staff, Feed Mills, and HFI Veterinarians through phone, email, fax, and text  Must have Valid Driver’s License, and reliable Truck for transportation    Education/Experience  Proficient with computers, smart phones, spreadsheets and databases Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)  No previous experience working with pigs required, training will be provided    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate others  Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to have difficult conversations and achieve desired results  Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills  Organized with strong attention to detail  Self-motivated and hard-working Strong interest in working with animals with a desire to learn and self-develop
