Technical Writer - Manufacturing (St Martin)
We are seeking a Technical Writer who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment and is interested in learning how complex, heavy equipment is built, operated, and serviced.This position is ideal for someone who has experience creating technical documentation – or is early in their career and looking to build those skills – while working closely with engineers, technicians, and production teams on the shop floor.We're looking for a candidate who is curious, detail-oriented, and motivated to develop their understanding of mechanical systems and translate that knowledge into clear, accurate documentation.RESPONSIBILITIESUpdate, revise, and maintain existing technical documents, including operator manuals, service and maintenance guides, parts manuals, and installation instructionsWork with engineering, service and manufacturing teams to gather and validate technical contentReview equipment designs and existing documentation to support accuracy and updatesSupport documentation updates in response to Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)Use CAD software (2D/3D) to edit existing drawings and create basic illustrations and exploded views (training provided as needed)Help maintain document accuracy, version control, and alignment with our ERP system (NetSuite)Continuously improve documentation clarity, usability, and consistency with guidance from the teamQUALIFICATIONSAssociate degree, technical diploma, or certification in Technical Writing, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience1-3 years of technical writing or related experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or technical environmentExperience creating technical documentation for physical products or equipment is a plusAbility to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, or specifications is preferredMechanical aptitude or interest in understanding how equipment and systems workFamiliarity with technical authoring tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker) is a plusExperience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for basic edits and illustrations is helpful; willingness to learn is expectedStrong attention to detail, organization, and commitment to accuracyRotochopper is an EOE employer.
