Camp Counselor

* THIS IS A TEMPORARY FULL-TIME SUMMER DAY CAMP POSITION*May 27th, 2026 through July 24th, 2026Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pmPay Rate: $80 Per DayThe Salvation Army Mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Summary/Primary Purpose: This position protects, guides, stimulates, and helps the children in our program. This position shares in developing our programs and program procedures. This position becomes the counselor, teacher, spiritual leader, confidante, and role model.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare for daily lessons and help plan physical activities.Lead and participate in all facets of the program: recreation, snack, craft, pool, fieldtrips, etc.Prepare snacks.Provide Christian devotions.Enforce and adhere to the facility policies of no swearing, no alcoholic drinking, no drug use and no violence.Check out and check in equipment, putting items away in the proper place.The position will do basic cleaning as needed to include sweeping, wiping off tables, spot mopping spills, empty garbage cans and other cleaning duties as assigned.Monitor computer usage.Document and report accidents.Perform open and closing procedures including opening and locking doors, turning on and off lights and equipment, getting out and putting away equipmentHelp transport children to and from field trips.Driving is an essential aspect of this position.Other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: N/AEducation and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GEDQualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneouslyThe ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must be able to drive a 12-passenger van. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR and First Aid certification. Must be able to frequently be in the sun and outside in varying weather conditions.
