COA Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and delivery focused Analytics COA Engineer (Power BI & Semantic Layer) to support and enhance enterprise analytics platforms within the Data Analytics COA team. This role is responsible for the stability, reliability, and day to day operation of Power BI reporting, semantic models, and analytics workloads, while contributing to continuous improvement of the firm's analytics ecosystem.The engineer will work closely with analytics development teams and data platform partners to enable self service analytics, promote reuse of enterprise semantic models, and support COA intake and enablement functions. This includes advising teams on data modeling, semantic layer design, Power BI best practices, and alignment to COA governance and architectural standards.This role operates on U.S. Eastern Time business hours to provide direct coverage for critical production windows and close collaboration with U.S.-based business and technology stakeholders. Cube Dev)Key Responsibilities:- Act as an COA enablement engineer, helping delivery teams design, build, and optimize analytics solutions using Power BI and enterprise semantic layers.- Provide hands on guidance to teams on Power BI development, dataset design, and semantic modeling using Cube Dev and Power BI.- Support COA intake and demand processes, assisting with solution assessments, design reviews, and alignment to enterprise analytics standards.- Promote reuse of certified datasets and semantic models, reducing duplication and improving consistency across analytics solutions.- Assist teams in adopting COA best practices, patterns, and architectural guardrails.- Design, review, and enhance enterprise semantic models, including measures, dimensions, and business logic.- Advise on model performance, scalability, and usability, ensuring analytics solutions meet enterprise requirements.- Partner with data architecture teams to align semantic models with underlying data warehouse structures and enterprise data strategy.- Work closely with business users, business analysts, and analytics developers to translate business requirements into well designed analytics solutions.- Serve as a technical advisor and point of enablement for analytics teams across lines of business.- Collaborate with globally distributed teams while maintaining primary engagement during U.S. Eastern Time hours.- Contribute to the definition and evolution of COA standards, best practices, and reference architectures.- Support governance activities such as design reviews, standards compliance checks, and enablement documentation.- Identify opportunities to improve analytics delivery efficiency through tooling, templates, and reusable assets.Qualifications:- 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and enterprise reporting platforms, with a strong focus on analytics enablement and solution design.- 5+ years of hands on SQL experience, including relational and dimensional data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning on platforms such as Snowflake and SQL Server.- Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and advising on Power BI reports, datasets, and semantic models, including best practices for reuse and scalability.- Experience working with enterprise semantic layers (e.g., Cube Dev or similar technologies) and promoting standardized business logic across analytics use cases.- Familiarity with financial services data domains (e.g., Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives) and the associated reporting and analytical requirements.- Strong understanding of analytics governance concepts, including standards, design patterns, certified datasets, and controlled self service enablement.- Ability to partner with business analysts and delivery teams to translate business requirements into well designed analytics and semantic solutions.- Self driven and proactive, with the ability to guide and enable other teams through complex analytics design decisions.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non technical audiences.- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple enablement efforts and COA requests in parallel.- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
