About Pareto.AI Pareto.AI is a human data platform connecting experienced professionals with leading AI researchers to help build safer, more reliable AI systems grounded in real-world expertise.Project Overview This project focuses on improving the ability of advanced AI systems to perform sophisticated legal reasoning rooted in doctrinal analysis, statutory interpretation, and appellate argumentation. We are building an AI legal assistant capable of constructing structured legal arguments, interpreting complex precedent, and producing analysis reflective of the highest standards of legal reasoning.Whom We're Looking For Appellate attorneys and legal academics who regularly engage with doctrinal legal reasoning, statutory interpretation, and structured written advocacy. Candidates may come from a variety of senior legal backgrounds including:Federal or state appellate practiceLaw school faculty (any doctrinal field)Judicial clerkship experience (circuit or supreme court level)Legal think tanks or policy research institutionsBar exam preparation or legal writing instructionAdministrative law or regulatory policy with appellate exposureScope of Work Selected experts will design and evaluate challenging legal tasks rooted in doctrinal reasoning and structured argumentation. Examples include:Statutory and regulatory interpretation tasksJudicial opinion drafting and legal analysisAppellate brief drafting and evaluationCase law synthesis and doctrinal analysisDesigning multi-step legal reasoning problemsAdministrative hearing case file review and preparationEvaluating AI-generated legal arguments for rigor and completenessGrading model outputs and providing structured feedbackMinimum RequirementsJuris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degreeActive or previously held license to practice law, or equivalent academic legal experienceDemonstrated engagement with doctrinal legal analysis at a senior levelExcellent written communication and analytical precisionIdeal ExperienceAppellate brief writing or oral argument experienceAcademic legal writing (law review, treatises, faculty scholarship)Experience designing or grading legal analysis (moot court, bar prep, law school exams)Administrative law, regulatory policy, or statutory interpretation experienceEmployment law or labor relations academic background a plusFamiliarity with CourtListener, PACER, or equivalent research toolCompensation $125/hour for approved submissions. Additional ad-hoc expert tasks may also be offered at the same rate.Timeline and Commitment Ongoing initiative with flexible participation. 10-15 hours/week.
