Systems Engineering Intern

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the R&D Engineering Team in the Life Sciences Group, helping to test and iterate on ideas related to droplet generation and sorting.The ideal candidate will create a plan to test prototypes against user and safety requirements. You will execute the test plan and document detailed results. Based on test results, you will also make design, algorithm, and process suggestions for the next iteration of the design. Last but not least, you will give regular reports and presentations to stakeholders.How You'll Make An Impact:Help advance and shape the future of droplet generation and sorting platformsConfirm through test the system meets user and safety requirements.Develop and execute experiments to characterize performance parameters. Capture procedures and results in detailed reports.Inform field users on expected performance and make best practice suggestions.Present regular updates to the engineering team.What You Bring:Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree at an accredited university in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering or related field.Experience planning, writing, and executing test protocols, with attention to detail and thorough documentation. Familiarity with Jama is a plus.Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment. Wet lab experience is a plus.Understanding of basic fluidic principles including how temperature will impact fluid behavior and properties. Experience with pneumatic fluidic control systems is a plus.Familiarity with basic optics principles and optical components (lenses, filters, LEDs, leaser, etc) is a plus.Familiarity with embedded Linux operating systems such as SSH and SFTP is also a plus.Experience analyzing .csv data using Excel, Matlab, Python or similar analysis tools.3.0 Minimum GPA.Rising Juniors, Seniors, and Masters Students.Be willing to make a full-time commitment of 40 hours a week for 9 weeks from June 15 to August 14, 2026.Location: This position must be based in Pleasanton, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.Total Rewards Package: At Bio-Rad, we're empowered by our purpose and recognize that our employees are as well.
