Field Intern - Construction (wood framing)

Colt Builders Corp is seeking a motivated Field Intern to join our construction team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in wood-frame construction while learning from experienced carpenters, foremen, and site supervisors on active job sites.The Field Intern will assist with day-to-day jobsite activities, learn industry best practices, and develop skills in construction tools, materials, and safety procedures.BenefitsPayroll processed weeklyPaid time offLife Insurance/ AD&D and Short-term disability fully covered by the company.Health, Dental, Vision Plans401k Plan with match and Roth Plan OptionDuties and responsibilities• Follow all Colt and site specific safety procedures at all times.• Assist carpenters and foreman on site with tasks as assigned, such as but not limited to: clean-ing, preparing the job site and assisting material deliveries• Perform basic punch work including installing hold-downs, hangars and other misc. hardware• Develop proficiencies in the use and care of a circular saw and pneumatic nail guns and hand tools• Assist with jobsite paperwork• Communicate with Carpenter, Foreman, Site Supervisor and Project Manager when necessary• Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (safety seminars, toolbox talks, industry-related activities)Qualifications• Ability to use basic hand and power tools• Basic understanding of material types and sized (ie. 2x4, 2x6, sheathing)• Basic job safety knowledge• Desire to learn more skills and gain more on-site responsibilities• Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook• OSHA 10 hour certificationWorking conditionsThis is a full-time field position, typically requiring 40+ hours per week. Some weekend work may be required depending on project schedules.
