Location: Chillicothe, IL Details: 24-month contract with ongoing need, opportunity for direct hire, fully onsite role Pay Rate: $38.00 – 41.00/hr. with benefit inclusions Job Summary This role supports machine validation efforts through hands-on testing of thermal and fluid systems. The position plans, sets up, executes, and documents tests, analyzes results, and communicates findings and recommendations to product design teams. The role operates in a highly collaborative, hands-on engineering environment and is ideal for candidates seeking to build deep technical expertise in machine systems while working closely with experienced engineers. Responsibilities Plan, set up, and execute cooling and thermodynamic system tests on large machines. Analyze test data, document results, and provide clear recommendations to design teams. Prepare and install instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, and flow meters. Collaborate closely with cooling engineers, machine validation engineers, and machine operators during test execution. Participate in test planning, design reviews, and documentation through cross-functional meetings (often virtual). Support experienced engineers with test setup and execution while progressively taking ownership of planning and delivering projects. Perform hands-on physical work including instrumentation setup, troubleshooting, climbing machines, and using hand tools safely. Years Of Experience And Education 5–7 years of relevant engineering experience (internships accepted as experience). Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline that includes Thermodynamics and Fluid Dynamics (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar). Backgrounds such as Cooling Test Engineer or related validation/testing roles are considered comparable. Skills Required Strong understanding of thermodynamic and fluid systems. Experience with instrumentation such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, and their application. High initiative and ability to take ownership of work. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team environment.
