Audiovisual (AV) Field Service Engineer - III (Lead)

Description: The primary role of the AV Field Service Engineer - Level 3 (also called a Service Technician - Level 3) is to troubleshoot, define, escalate, and resolve audio, video, and control system problems for our support clients. The areas of expertise are varied and require advanced technical knowledge of audiovisual systems including networking, audio and video equipment and the associated software, and intermediate level control system program editing. The Service Technician primarily performs these services at our customer’s facilities. A strong, comprehensive background in electronics, computers, and audiovisual industry best practices is required. This position requires attention to detail, punctuality, good communication skills, and the skills needed to commission an audiovisual system installation. Company benefits include: Competitive compensation plan Full medical, dental and vision benefits Flex schedules (depending on client needs) 401(k) with employer match 120 PTO, 9 paid holidays and 1 Floating Holiday 8 hours to volunteer on your favorite cause Collaborative work environment Tuition reimbursement Career and personal development opportunities Job Responsibilites: Perform systematic and high-quality diagnostic troubleshooting, repair, or adjustment to integrated audiovisual systems; Adjust, configure, and troubleshoot video and audio-conferencing systems, DSPs and audio systems; Retrieve and load control system code and troubleshoot control systems; Repair connectors, cables, and other system components; De-install/install system components, devices, and equipment; Provide detailed status (written documentation of findings) of system repair; Maintain and update technical bulletins for all applicable equipment; Provide client support by performing the role of a back-up Onsite Support Technician if a fill in is required; Conduct regular training classes for entry level Service Technicians using internal and industry training materials; Load, test, and edit control code and graphical user interface files with remote assistance as needed; Responsible for the accurate mark-up of field documentation and maintaining and archiving all job-related configuration files, code, graphic touch panel layouts, and programs in a timely manner; Provide technical guidance to other Service Technicians who may need occasional assistance with the development of skills listed above; Provide input on performance reviews and during the interview process, as well as with developmental and training plans; Requirements: Qualifications and Requirements: Associate degree or equivalent experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; Must have an AVIXA CTS certification; Must attain a CompTIA Network+ certification within two years of starting this position; 6+ years’ previous experience providing technical AV/IT and/or field engineering support; Advanced proficiency using Windows and Apple software; Ability and technical knowledge to set up and color balance video displays; Advanced proficiency with loading, testing, and editing control code and graphical user interface files from numerous AV manufacturers such as AMX, Crestron, Extron, QSC, and others; Must have proficiency with Crestron, Extron and AMX programming languages, and a working knowledge of Python, HTML, C#Pro, or similar types of programming languages, and digital communication protocols such as IP, RS232, RS485, and all forms of USB; Must have advanced proficiency setting up and adjusting common audio and video equipment including video and audio-conferencing systems; Must have advanced proficiency using software, hand tools and test equipment of the audiovisual and IT trades; Must have advanced proficiency configuring wired and wireless TCP/IP networks; Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task are all required; Work hours will vary according to individual customer site schedules. Some work may require weekend commitments; Mobility must include walking, sitting, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds assisted, standing, and occasionally kneeling and crouching for long periods of time.
