The primary focus of this role is the technical integration of the checkout system with various third-party payment providers. You will be working on a robust architecture where backend logic meets frontend presentation via Apache FreeMarker (FTL).
This is a high-impact position where stability and precision are paramount. You will not be working in a silo; this role requires active collaboration with the client’s internal technical team and third-party vendors to ensure seamless transaction processing. We need someone who can bridge the gap between Java backend logic and HTML structure.
Responsibilities
Participate in the design and development of eCommerce backend from requirements analysis to production.Implement expandable, testable, production-grade code
Serve as a force-multiplier and a lead for a broader group of developers.
Assist the client and the account team in estimating and executing projects in eCommerce space and specifically around Cart/Checkout and Order Capture.
Identify SDLC bottlenecks, work with DevOps team on resolving tooling deficiencies
Promote and adopt AI-enabled SDLC workflow.
Constantly improve software quality (evaluate and incorporate new libraries, tools, and technologies; code reviews; refactoring; testing; etc.)
Analyze and improve application performance
Search for simple and robust solutions to complex tasks
Work in an Agile methodology environment where innovation, teamwork, and creativity are the key to success
Requirements
Extensive experience in Java, Spring Boot, git
Background in eCommerce backend
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science/ Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Have 5 + years of experience writing and deploying production code
Strong ability to abstract complex problems to their essential components and design and implement elegant solutions for them
Robust OO Programming and OO Design concepts knowledge
Strong knowledge of Java 8, Microservices
Nice to have
Preferred: experience working on Cart and Checkout, Order Capture, Product Discovery
Preferred: Windsurf/Cursor, AI-enabled workflow
Preferred: HTML, Apache FreeMarker
Preferred: JavaScript
