Software Engineer (Distributed Web Applications & Cloud)
OverviewBigBear.ai is seeking a Software Engineer for development and maintenance of large-scale, distributed web applications. You will focus on building robust, scalable systems using modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and Python, while leveraging DevOps automation to manage cloud-native environments. While the primary focus is high-level software architecture and development, our team operates in the offensive cyber space. Candidates who possess a background—or a strong personal interest—in reverse engineering and vulnerability research will find a unique opportunity to apply their engineering rigor to complex security challenges.What You Will DoDevelop and maintain large-scale, distributed web applications using Node.js, TypeScript, and PythonArchitect scalable microservices and backend systems that support high-performance data processing and communicationUtilize DevOps automation tools and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to deploy and manage services in commercial cloud environmentsCreate robust CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous delivery of secure and reliable software updatesCollaborate with security researchers to integrate engineering best practices into offensive cyber and vulnerability research projectsCollaborate with users and analysts to improve tooling and mission capabilitiesWhat You Need To Have8+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline + 4+ years of experienceClearance: TS/SCI w /PolyProfessional software development experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, and PythonKnowledge of building and maintaining enterprise-grade, distributed web applications and system architecturesExperience with DevOps automation, cloud service providers (e.g., AWS), and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologiesKnowledge of modern software engineering principles, including version control, testing frameworks, and agile workflowsExperience with high-side development environments and non-attributed network configurationsWhat We'd Like You To HaveExperience or interest in offensive cyber operations, vulnerability research, and software reverse engineeringKnowledge of Android application architecture and experience or interest in mobile vulnerability researchExperience with low-level programming in C/C++ and utilizing debuggers such as gdb or similar toolsAbout BigBear.aiBigBear.ai is a leading provider of AI-powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity.
