Big Data Systems Engineer
Overview
As a Big Data Systems Engineer at KBR, you deploy and integrate CHEETAS across DoD ranges and labs to enable advanced data analytics. You will be the customer-facing technical lead for CHEETAS deployments, collaborating with system administrators and developers to resolve issues. The role spans diverse, often air-gapped environments, requiring strong problem-solving and clear communication. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable big data and knowledge management capabilities that support national security missions.

ResponsibilitiesDeploy CHEETAS in customer environments across DoD ranges and labsIntegrate CHEETAS with disparate hardware stacks and existing ecosystemsServe as primary interface with customers during deploymentCollaborate with system administrators and software developers to document and resolve deployment issuesTroubleshoot and optimize big data ecosystems in enterprise-like environmentsPrepare and deliver findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key requirementsActive TS/SCI Security ClearanceBachelor in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or related technical field and 10 years of DoD experience3 years of hands-on integration/configuration of SQL Server Big Data Cluster, CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, Windows Server, VMware5 years of hands-on experience in big data environmentsExperience deploying and configuring Big Data and Knowledge Management toolsStrong troubleshooting, written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work with diverse stakeholders and travel up to 25% (surges to 50%)Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsCustomer-facing and mentoring abilitiesAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesNFSSMBS3
