Knowledge Engineer Manager - Back-end Engineer
Overview
In this role you design, build, and operate the data infrastructure and services powering a AI-driven knowledge platform. You’ll work across the backend stack to architect APIs, develop data pipelines, and manage multi-modal databases, ensuring reliability and performance for product teams. You will handle knowledge graphs, semantic tech, and data flow from ingestion to delivery at enterprise scale. This is a hands-on role shaping how data and AI enable fast business outcomes.

ResponsibilitiesHydrate data into Knowledge Graphs by mapping sources to ontology modelsDevelop data mappings and transformation workflows using R2RML or similarWrite and optimize SPARQL for graph loading, validation, and retrievalBuild and maintain data ingestion pipelines from enterprise systemsDesign/optimize relational schemas and queries for graph hydration and ETLDeploy and maintain vector database infrastructure for embedding storage and semantic retrievalDesign/maintain scalable graph query APIs for internal teamsPerformance-tune graph queries, indexing, and data access patternsOwn containerization, deployment, and monitoring of graph services in cloud environmentsEnsure data quality, ontology alignment, and secure handling of PII/PHICollaborate with ontologists, architects, and application teams on Knowledge Graph implementations
Key requirementsMinimum 5 years experience in Knowledge Graph data hydration and ontology-based mapping (RDF, SPARQL)Minimum 5 years experience with R2RML or similar mapping frameworksMinimum 5 years experience with graph databases (e.g., Stardog, Neo4j, GraphDB) and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch including strong SQL proficiencyMinimum 5 years experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) including schema design and query optimizationMinimum 5 years experience deploying vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, Qdrant) in productionMinimum 5 years Proficiency in Python or Java and REST API design for internal consumersBachelor’s degree or equivalent (minimum 12 years) of work experienceCollaborative mindsetStrong problem-solvingEffective communication with cross-functional teamsSemantic technologies: RDF, OWL, SKOS, RDFSQuery languages: SPARQLMapping: R2RML, CSVW, SHACL
