Principal Electrical EngineerLocation: Englewood, CO (Hybrid 3 Days Onsite)Type: Contract-to-HireWe are seeking a highly experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join our client's team in Englewood, Colorado. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering a leadership role on impactful, medium to large-scale projects. This position requires a strong technical background, leadership capability, and a commitment to engineering excellence.In this role, you will lead electrical engineering efforts, oversee project execution, and ensure quality, compliance, and innovation across all deliverables. You will also play a key role in mentoring team members and coordinating across multiple disciplines.Work Environment:This position follows a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite at the Englewood office). Remote work is not available.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and provide technical direction to engineers and designers executing electrical scopes on medium to large projectsEstimate manhours, prioritize tasks, assign work, and communicate progress to project managementReview and verify the completeness, accuracy, and quality of engineering deliverablesEnsure compliance with company standards, industry codes, and client requirementsCoordinate with project managers and discipline leads to align with project goals and proceduresPerform complex electrical engineering design, analysis, and calculations using current tools and standardsPrepare and review key deliverables, including:Load lists, power system studies, and single-line diagramsEquipment layouts, area classifications, and schematicsEquipment specifications, data sheets, and requisitionsTechnical bid evaluations and analysesExecute both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teamsIdentify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practicesEnsure adherence to safety standards, budgets, schedules, and contract requirementsMentor and support the development of junior engineers and designersQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institutionActive Professional Engineer (PE) license (Colorado required; multi-state licensure preferred)15+ years of electrical engineering experience, including leadership on medium-to-large projectsStrong experience with:Power distribution systems and motor controlsGrounding and area classification designProtective devices and coordination studiesArc flash analysis and AC mitigationProficiency in performing complex calculations including:Load flow, short circuit, and harmonicsEquipment sizing and large motor startingTransient stability and electromagnetic transientsFamiliarity with ANSI, IEEE, IEC, NEC, and related codes and standardsExperience specifying and procuring electrical equipment (MCCs, transformers, switchgear)Strong working knowledge of electrical modeling software (ETAP preferred, EasyPower acceptable)Experience contributing to Total Installed Cost (TIC) estimatesAbility to manage scope, schedule, and budget effectivelyStrong communication and client-facing skillsKnowledge of construction practices, installation methods, and plant start-up processesAspen Technical StaffingCELEBRATING 25 YEARS~2001-2026~We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
