Graduate Nurse ($5000 Sign-on Bonus)

Job Summary:Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Supervisor, the Graduate Nurse applies nursing processes to deliver patient care according to established standards and protocols. They develop nursing diagnoses based on patient age and condition, implementing interventions to address actual or potential health problems. The role includes adhering to professional standards, organizational policies, and regulatory guidelines while participating in extended orientation programs tailored to new graduates.Key Responsibilities:Apply the nursing process to provide direct patient care, including data collection and recording.Recognize and assess emergent patient care situations, providing appropriate interventions and documenting patient response.Delegate patient care duties based on staff skills, patient acuity, and available resources, ensuring follow-up as needed.Proactively manage unit situations and address patient and departmental needs.Demonstrate proficiency in computer operations for documentation and data management.Uphold professional standards and organizational policies in nursing practice.Maintain unit cleanliness to promote patient safety and infection control.Utilize effective communication techniques tailored to the developmental stage of patients.Provide a safe environment and age-appropriate care for patients across the lifespan.Implement safe and therapeutic interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.Practice infection prevention techniques and manage body fluids effectively.Explain procedures to patients and families, acting as a patient advocate and respecting cultural values and beliefs.Education:Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse programExperience:Previous experience in the medical field. (Preferred)Licensure and Certification:Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of New York**A NYS limited licensure work permit must be obtained within ninety (90) days of graduation and the GN must successfully pass the NCLEX-RN within 120 days of beginning employment to obtain the required professional nursing licensure in NYS.Effective June, 2019, graduates of Associate Degree RN Programs must complete BSN within 10 years from date of licensure.Professional Skills and Abilities:Proficient in applying nursing processes and protocols.Effective communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.Ability to prioritize tasks and manage patient care efficiently.Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and quality care.Cultural competence and respect for diversity.Adherence to professional and organizational standards.Competency in computer operations for documentation and data management.Physical Requirements:Ability to perform tasks associated with patient care, including standing, walking, and lifting.Stamina to work extended shifts and adapt to changing patient needs.Manual dexterity and coordination for performing nursing procedures.Visual and auditory acuity to assess patient conditions and communicate effectively.
