Director of Finance / Controller

We are entering an exciting new stage of growth and looking to expand our team. Over The Moon is looking for an experienced Director of Finance who will own Over The Moon’s core financial operations on a day-to-day basis while supporting leadership with actionable insights to drive growth.  This role is highly hands-on, combining bookkeeping and accounting oversight with forecasting, reporting, and business analysis.Key ResponsibilitiesDay-to-Day Finance OperationsManage accounts payable/receivable, vendor payments, invoicing, and expense trackingOversee Shopify and payment processor reconciliations; ensure returns, discounts, and vendor payouts are recorded accuratelyPartner with external accountants to run monthly, quarterly and yearly closes and prepare financial statementsFinancial ReportingProduce monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports with clear variance analysisTrack gross margin, vendor payout ratios, discounts, and return ratesCreate simple dashboards to communicate performance to leadershipBudgeting & ForecastingBuild and maintain operating budgets across departments in collaboration with leadershipUpdate forecasts based on actual performanceRun scenario analyses to support key decisions (e.g., potential capsules, wholesale orders, marketing spend levels, staffing, registry contingent liability growth and more)Cash Flow & Working Capital Monitor daily and weekly cash flow to ensure liquidity for vendor payments and operationsMaintain a rolling 12-month cash forecastProactively flag risks and opportunities to leadershipRisk Management & ComplianceEnsure compliance with audit and regulatory requirementsManage sales tax process with external firmManage insurance policies with external firm Process & SystemsMaintain financial controls and improve workflows for vendor payouts, returns, and customer refundsOwn QuickBooks, Bill.com, and other finance systems and ensure integrations with Shopify and banking are accurateSupport selection and implementation of new finance tools as neededCollaborate with Customer Success and Sales to refine vendor policies and ensure operational alignment across 500+ partners 8–10+ years in finance and operations roles (e.g., controller, FP&A, finance director), ideally with exposure to e-commerce and marketplacesHands-on experience with QuickBooks (or similar), Shopify/e-commerce finance, and Excel/Google SheetsComfort rolling up sleeves to own bookkeeping details while also providing high-level analysisStrong attention to detail and process orientationStartup/lean team background is highly preferred
