Financial Controller

A global insurance organization is seeking a Vice President, Controller – North America to lead and scale its accounting function. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, and team leadership across North America. This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on, strategic finance leader with deep insurance expertise and experience managing large, high-performing teams in a complex, global environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee the North America accounting function, including general ledger, close, and reporting processesEnsure timely and accurate preparation of GAAP and STAT financial statementsDrive consistency, scalability, and process improvements across multiple entities and business unitsPartner closely with executive leadership on financial strategy, reporting insights, and regulatory mattersOversee internal controls, compliance, and audit coordination (internal & external)Manage and develop a large directly and indirectly reporting accounting teamCollaborate with global finance leadership on cross-border initiatives and reporting alignmentRequirementsCPA requiredInsurance industry experience required (open across Life, P&C, Reinsurance, etc.)Can be Big 4 or Top 10 public accounting experience – open to Director-level candidates with significant insurance client exposureStrong expertise in U.S. GAAP and STAT accountingProven experience leading and managing large accounting teamsTrack record of success in complex, multi-entity or global environmentsStrong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsPreferred / Plus QualificationsExposure to IFRS, specifically IFRS 17Background in Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance
