Engineer- Design Location: Atlanta, GA Contract- 2 Years Client- Southern Gas Co. Position Summary: Southern Company Gas is seeking a Design Engineer to support the planning, design, and technical development of natural gas infrastructure projects. This position plays a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs for gas distribution, storage, and fueling station systems. Key Responsibilities:Design components and functionality for pipeline and gas facility projectsSupport gas storage and fueling station design assignmentsAssist with mechanical equipment maintenance planning and supportConduct system balance assessments to identify and resolve system performance issuesProvide technical oversight and support during construction phasesCollaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or General Engineering1-3 years of progressive engineering experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred:Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification Required Skills & Competencies:Project Management capabilitiesEffective communication across all organizational levelsStrong interpersonal skills and stakeholder coordination abilitiesCritical thinking and self-guided problem solvingAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteBasic proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)Intermediate proficiency in CAD/GIS software tools
