Job Title: Tax ManagerLocation: Annapolis, MDPosition Type: Full-TimeReports To: Principal / PartnerPosition Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Accounting Tax Manager to join our leadership team. This individual will oversee client engagements, manage teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to our clients. With 10+ years of progressive public accounting experience, the ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical expertise, excellent leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to client service and staff development.Key Responsibilities:Manage and oversee multiple tax and accounting engagements for a diverse client portfolioReview complex tax returns and workpapers, preparing when necessary, to meet client needsServe as the main point of contact for client relationships, providing strategic advice and responsive serviceLead planning meetings, engagement scheduling and resource allocationPerform technical research on complex accounting and tax issues and communicate findings effectivelyMentor, train and evaluate staff and seniors; provide regular feedback and support professional developmentMonitor engagement budgets, billing and profitability; ensure deadlines and quality standards are metMaintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, accounting standards and tax lawsIdentify opportunities for process improvements and additional services to enhance client relationshipsContribute to firm growth through business development efforts and participation in networking or community eventsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Master's in Accounting or Taxation preferred)CPA license required10+ years of recent experience in a public accounting firmDemonstrated leadership in managing multiple engagements and teamsStrong technical expertise in accounting principles, tax regulations and financial reportingProficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., UltraTax, QuickBooks, etc.)Excellent interpersonal, communication and client service skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlinesCommitment to mentoring staff and fostering a positive team environmentWillingness to work extended hours during peak periods, including evenings and weekends
