Commercial Construction Project Superintendent

Infinity Building Services, Inc. is a commercial general contractor based in Bowie, MD seeking to expand its current operation with 1-2 full-time commercial construction superintendents for restaurant, retail, hospitality, medical, education, office and base building projects in the DC Metro Area (MD/DC/Northern VA). The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for supervising the construction site, coordinating subcontractors, managing the project schedule, ensuring quality control, and maintaining safety standards. This role requires a strong background in commercial construction, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to lead a team effectively. Key Responsibilities Site Supervision and Management: Oversee daily construction activities and manage the construction site. Ensure that the project progresses according to the construction schedule. Supervise and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, suppliers, and construction workers. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications. Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel on site. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal building codes and regulations. Conduct safety meetings and ensure that all workers are properly trained in safety procedures. Quality Control: Inspect work quality to ensure it meets the project specifications and industry standards. Address and resolve any issues related to work quality or discrepancies in construction. Implement corrective actions as needed to maintain the quality of work. Project Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives. Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment to ensure timely availability on site. Manage and resolve any issues related to project scope, design changes, or unforeseen conditions. Documentation and Reporting: Use Procore software to maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily reports, progress photos, and change orders. Prepare and submit progress reports to project managers and stakeholders. Ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and filed appropriately. Budget and Schedule Management: Monitor and control project budgets and expenditures to ensure they align with financial projections. Track project milestones and ensure that the project remains on schedule. Address any delays or obstacles that may impact the project timeline. Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to construction staff and subcontractors. Resolve conflicts and address any issues that arise among team members. Promote a collaborative and positive work environment on site. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (preferred but not always required). Experience: Proven experience as a construction superintendent, with a strong background in commercial construction projects - 5 years preferred. Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents. Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Certifications: Preferred - OSHA 30 Certification, CPR/First Aid, Procore Certification preferred. Working Conditions Location: Primarily works on construction sites, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions and physical demands. Hours: May require working extended hours, including weekends, to meet project deadlines. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Capability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
