Maryland SPCAJob DescriptionJob title: Content & Social Media CoordinatorReports to: Director of Marketing and CommunicationsSalary range: $48,000-$52,000FLSA status: ExemptDate created: 5/26/26Position Summary: Working within the Marketing & Communications Department (MarCom), the Content & Social Media Coordinator will focus on the development and timely execution of the MarCom's storytelling needs using social media, video, and written stories. A key component to success in this role will be the candidate’s ability to identify and track stories within the organization and provide necessary assets (copy, photos, video, etc.) to share both internally and externally. Working with the Director of Marketing and Communications, this role will also implement the MD SPCA’s social media strategy through the timely development and scheduling of content.Please send a brief sample of your work to marketing@mdspca.org to be considered (video preferred).Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Own the content creation process:WebsiteVideosAssist in copywriting of the monthly e-newsletterAssist in copywriting of the print newsletterHelping to compose and edit direct marketing letters with the Development teamScheduling relevant content across social media accountsEngaging with users on social media platforms in a timely mannerIdentifying, sharing, and executing relevant social trendsAnalyzing content performanceTrack, record, and complete the storytelling for the pets & people of the MD SPCARegularly update the MarCom's monthly content calendarParticipate in regular meetings with stakeholdersCommitment to the MD SPCA missionPerforms other related duties as assignedQualifications: BS/BA in marketing, communications, or related field preferred. Relevant experience considered.Minimum 1 year experience working within a Marketing Department (or similar)Prior experience as a Social Media Coordinator/Manager or similar roleKnowledge of best practices for individual social media platformsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent time management skillsAbility to swiftly create content, both independently & as a teamPrior experience using social media scheduling software (Meta Planner, Hootsuite, etc.)Demonstrated experience with copywritingPrior experience with Microsoft Office preferredBasic to intermediate production skills (audio, video, photography) preferredPrior experience using Monday.com (or similar project management software) preferredPrior experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) preferredComfortability with handling animals preferredPhysical Demands:Prolonged sitting, with some standing, walking, bending, and reachingUse of computer monitor, keyboard, and telephoneAbility to lift 15lbsWorking Conditions:Potential for hybrid work scheduleWork is frequently performed in an office setting within an animal shelterOccasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends requiredFrequent exposure and handling of animalsExposure to high noise when in kennel areaOccasional exposure to outdoor weather during certain fundraising and programmatic activities/eventsOccasional travel to offsite locations necessaryThe Maryland SPCA is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
