Van DriverBuchanan Community Schools is welcoming applicants for a Van Driver. The district seeks a qualified individual to drive a school van to transport students over specified routes according to time schedules while complying with traffic regulations.Essential duties and responsibilities:Drive assigned students, making safety and efficiency your number-one priorityDriving students to and from schools on schedule in all weather conditionsDriving a van on a specific route and making safety a priority by following traffic lawsComplete pre-trip and post-trip checks, report any issues on a service request form, and submit to the supervisorComply with all traffic ordinancesReport accidents, and work or pupil injuries to the designated person(s)Conduct emergency evacuation drills as directedPerform van housekeeping duties, which include inside and outside cleanlinessFuel vehicles as neededPrepare and submit all written reports required on a timely basisAttend workshops and training sessions as requiredMaintain knowledge of State and District rules and regulations concerning the transportation of studentsAssist in the establishment and adjustment of van routesRoutes vary from 4 to 6 hours per dayDisplays tact and courtesy when dealing with students, staff, and othersMaintains regular, reliable, and punctual attendanceAny other duties or responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the administrationThe employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout their employment in the DistrictSupervisory Responsibilities: Supervises students while transporting themQualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add and subtract two to six-digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10's and 100's.Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
