Overview The International Institute of New England IINE seeks a highly skilled detail oriented Grant Writer who is motivated by mission and impact and who brings a strong record of securing funding from diverse public and private sources The ideal candidate is a strategic and persuasive writer who thrives in a fast paced deadline driven environment and is energized by translating complex programs into compelling funder aligned narratives that advance opportunity for refugees and immigrants The Grant Writer plays a critical role in sustaining and growing IINEs life changing work This position is responsible for researching developing and submitting grant proposals that support core programs and emerging initiatives across resettlement education workforce development and immigration legal services Key responsibilities include grant prospecting cross departmental coordination proposal development and timely submission under tight funder deadlines as well as contributing to reports and funder communications that demonstrate impact and accountability Reporting to the Grants Manager the Grant Writer works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer & Senior Vice President Director of Program Design and Evaluation Chief Program Officer Managing Directors and Program and Contract Managers The Grant Writer serves as a trusted partner across the organization helping to strengthen relationships with public agencies and philanthropic funders while ensuring that IINEs mission values and outcomes are communicated with clarity credibility and urgency Responsibilities Research build and manage public and private grant work plans including Researching and identifying grant opportunities from government agencies and foundations Working with CAO to determine proposal strategy Gathering and formatting information Writing drafts Obtaining approvals Assembling all grant attachments Coordinating the development of budgets with programs and finance Copyediting and proofreading drafts and final narratives Packaging materials for submission Submitting grants online via mail or in person depending on submission instructions Collaborate with program staff to gather data success stories and project details for proposals Track public and private grant activities including all new and existing public grant funding and refunding deadlines in Salesforce Coordinate internal and external communication and planning during proposal development Maintain a shared calendar to ensure timely submission of grant proposals letters of inquiry and reports Attend bidders conferences Participate in weekly grants meeting to provide updates on submission award and prospecting statuses Conduct prospect research and support private grant writing and submission Write internal policy papers on new initiatives Complete routine administrative responsibilities as needed such as filing photocopying routine donor correspondence and database management Prioritize projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor Required SkillsAbilities Skills in Salesforce data and customer relationship management software strongly preferred Skills in Asana or other project management software preferred Excellent project coordination and research skills Ability to coordinate projects independently and thoroughly under tight deadlines Exemplary interpersonal skills experience collaborating effectively with staff across departments and in culturally diverse settings Strong interest in refugees and immigrants Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment and work under tight deadlines High level of personal and professional accountability Excellent Microsoft Office skills; prior experience with Adobe Creative Suite desktop publishing tools preferred Education & Experience Bachelors degree in communications English journalism or similar field Minimum 3 5 years of professional grant writing experience with a strong success rate Work Environment Conditions This position may require occasional overtime hours Frequent interruptions from employees Required office work including exposure to bright office lighting Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer May require lifting materials boxes equipment of 15 pounds or more Requires sitting or standing at a desk for long periods of time Requires drivingtraveling to and from IINE offices as needed Walking up and down stairs Alternate Sitting or Standing Typing Occasionally bending Occasionally pushing or pulling Occasionally reaching overhead Occasionally reaching at or below shoulder level
