We're looking for passionate, resilient, and business-minded enthusiasts who share our values and want to join us in not only leading the climbing industry but defining it!JOB SUMMARYA Developmental Competitive Team Coach serves as a main point of contact for our competitive youth athletes (ages 8-17) operating at a highly competitive level, and as such must be goal-oriented, able to multitask, innovative, possess good time management skills, and be passionate about helping coaches and young climbers achieve their expression of success. They partner with the Youth Team Manager and Coaches to plan and execute programming that results in transformative experiences for youth athletes and teach life skills through the sport of climbing. The role may also include coaching in our recreational programs, including working with younger climbers and introductory-level groups.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESFoster a positive, high-energy environment that supports meaningful and transformative experiences for athletes while reinforcing core valuesBuild strong, supportive relationships with athletes and coaches through empathy and compassionCollaborate with the Youth Team Manager and coaching staff to follow the seasonal plan and deliver daily instruction (practices, competitions, events, and training plans)Coach regular practices and attend weekend competitions as needed based on athlete participationSupervise youth climbers during bouldering, lead climbing, and belaying activitiesSupport administrative tasks, including roster tracking, belay certifications, practice notes, and parent communicationCommunicate effectively with coaching staff and management regarding updates, needs, and concernsPartner with the Youth Team Manager to support mentorship and athlete development opportunitiesAct as a culture keeper for the team, ensuring all activities reflect core valuesWork with the Head Coach to help plan the season schedule, including parent meetings, competitions, camps, and eventsAttend and support all relevant team practices, events, and competitionsSupport recreational programming as needed, including coaching non-competitive teams, younger climbers, and introductory-level groupsDeliver recreational programming that emphasizes foundational skills, confidence-building, and fun in a non-competitive environmentJOB REQUIREMENTSStrong coaching presence with the ability to serve as a positive, steady leader for the teamAbility to teach complex climbing concepts to youth athletes (ages 8-12)Embody Movement's core values and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culturePassion for developing youth athletes and supporting fellow coachesRelevant climbing and coaching experience appropriate to the team level, with a solid training foundationExperience with USA Climbing competitions, route setting, or competitive climbing preferred but not requiredAbility to climb V5 or 5.12+ preferred but not requiredCoaches may support both competitive and recreational programs depending on scheduling and program needsCandidates are encouraged to share their interest and experience with competitive and/or recreational coaching in their applicationADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis is a part-time position.Pay range: $18.50-$21.50/hour, based on coaching experience.Priority will be given to staff who plan to stay with the team through December 1, 2026. While our after-school programming season is winding down, we're looking for folks to train through the summer and join our fall team.Benefits include a free membership, in-gym discounts, guest passes, and pro deals.All new hires will complete a screening process.Scheduled shifts may vary week to week or month to month but will be published one month in advance.Opportunities are available for passionate individuals with strong instructional skills to grow into operations and program roles within the gym.
