Quantitative Software Engineer

We’re a crypto-focused quantitative trading startup building trading strategies end-to-end in Python. We collect and curate high-resolution market data, engineer predictive features, and deploy ML models to live trading. With long-term proven successful results, we are looking to expand our company. We are looking to hire talented individuals who are willing to get their hands dirty and build robust, reliable, effective software.We are currently an extremely small company. As our first hire, you’ll own large chunks of the data and machine learning stack, and work directly with the founder to turn research into live, measurable PnL.ResponsibilitiesBuild robust data ingestion/ETL for crypto venues (REST/WebSocket), with schema design and efficient storage.Aggregate and clean order-book, trades, and funding data; design features informed by market microstructure.Train, validate, and iterate on predictive models (classification/regression, sequence models, ensemble methods).Create reliable offline backtests with realistic costs, latency, and slippage; design A/B and walk-forward evals.Ship production research code: tests, CI, monitoring, and model/version tracking.Partner on live deployment (feature pipelines, model serving, rollouts, and monitoring/alerting).QualificationsPython expertise; you’re comfortable writing clean, performant, well-tested code. Knowledge of other languages is a huge plus, including functional programming.2+ years working with Pandas and NumPy, and at least one of: scikit-learn / TensorFlow / PyTorch.Experience building data pipelines (parsing, cleaning, joins, time-series alignment) at meaningful scale.Strong grasp of statistics/ML fundamentals (cross-validation, leakage avoidance, regularization, calibration).Clear communication and ownership mindset suitable for a tiny, fast-moving team.Nice to HaveKnowledge of market microstructure (order types, matching engines, depth dynamics, microprice/imbalance).PostgreSQL experience (indexing, partitioning, performance tuning).Crypto exchange mechanics (perps/spots, funding, liquidations, on-chain vs. off-chain data).Familiarity with Datomic (or Datalog-style querying, immutable data models).Distributed computing (Ray/Dask), streaming (Kafka/Redpanda), containers (Docker), and a major cloud (AWS/GCP).Why Join Tessellations?You are aligned with crypto as a culture and as a technology with massive disruption potential.
