Primary Location:3452 Spur 399, McKinney, Texas, 75069We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Job Summary:We are seeking a dynamic and skilled media relations coordinator to join our Communications team at Collin College. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the college's reputation and visibility through strategic media engagement and communication. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a keen understanding of media landscape trends, and a passion for higher education.Position will require frequent travel within the DFW area.Required Qualifications:Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement comprehensive media relations strategies and plans to promote Collin College's initiatives, events, and achievements. Coordinate and plan pitch concepts and materials. Determine objectives and metrics.Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to develop engaging content for press releases, social media, and other communication channels.Write articles promoting the college district.Write and send compelling press releases, media advisories, and other materials to effectively communicate key messages to the media.Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media outlets, journalists, and influencers. Coordinate interviews with local media.Monitor media coverage and provide regular reports and analysis to stakeholders. Proactively identify opportunities to capitalize on positive coverage and address any negative publicity.Assist in developing and implementing crisis communication plans and serve as a spokesperson for the college when necessary.Provide media relations support for college events, including groundbreakings, press conferences, and academic ceremonies.Coordinate media training and support for Communications team members, leadership, faculty and staff spokespeople, as needed, to effectively communicate with the media.Supplemental FunctionsPerform other duties as assigned.Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and Core Values.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of AP styleKnowledge of digital platformsKnowledge of social mediaKnowledge of online marketingKnowledge of marketing principlesFamiliarity with media monitoring tools and software is preferredExperience with crisis communication and media training is a plusPossess an understanding of the complex, fragmented media landscape and how to bring together cohesive programs and drive results for clientsSuperior organization skills and exceptional attention to detail. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
