Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Substitute Teacher at Regents School of Austin provides instructional support when regular teachers are absent, ensuring continuity of learning and a well-ordered classroom environment. Substitute Teachers implement lesson plans, maintain a respectful and productive classroom culture, and support the school's mission of forming students in truth, goodness, and beauty.To remain in active substitute status, substitutes are expected to serve regularly throughout the school year.PRINCIPLES FOR CONDUCTING WORKPursue full devotion to Christ and live a life that reflects joyful obedience to Him.Model the fruits of the Spirit in communication, relationships, and daily work.Demonstrate teachability, a positive attitude, and a willing heart for service.Embody other-centered servant leadership in all interactions.Prioritize important, mission-driven work rather than the merely urgent.Maintain clear and gracious communication with students, colleagues, and parents.RESPONSIBILITIESFollow the regular teacher's lesson plans to ensure continuity of instruction and student learningLead classroom activities in a manner that encourages student engagement and participationMaintain a structured, respectful, and positive classroom environmentManage student behavior in accordance with school policies and expectationsSupervise students during class transitions, lunch, or other assigned dutiesAdapt to various classroom settings, grade levels, and instructional needsCarry out additional duties as assigned, including proctoring or assisting with school operationsSUBSTITUTE EXPECTATIONSMaintain active substitute status by serving a minimum of once per month, or 10 assignments per school yearRespond to substitute requests in a timely and professional mannerArrive prepared, on time, and ready to support the needs of the classroom and schoolExperience and SkillsSKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSDemonstrated Christian faith and alignment with the mission of Regents School of AustinBachelor's degree requiredPrior teaching or classroom experience preferredStrong classroom management and communication skillsAbility to adapt quickly and effectively in a variety of classroom settingsCPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain)Information on our Purpose, Mission, Philosophy, Objectives and Doctrinal StatementBoard members, administration, faculty, coaches and other instructional personnel of Regents School, whether full-time, part-time or volunteer, must believe and abide by the Purpose, Mission, Philosophy, Objectives and Doctrinal Statement, evidenced by their signing a statement of agreement with Article II annually.
