We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.What you’ll doStripe is seeking an experienced accountant with an aptitude for data analysis to join its world class Accounting team and help us scale for the future, in a fast-paced environment that’s growing rapidly. As a member of the Product Accounting team, you will support the processing and reporting of our financial results for our transaction losses.ResponsibilitiesPartner closely with our risk management, data science and finance partners to thoroughly understand Stripe’s credit and fraud risk, and advise on accounting implications grounded in US GAAP guidancePlan, produce, and review monthly and quarterly close activities, including balance sheet reconciliations, reserve rollforwards, variance analysis and analytical reviews, producing internal management reporting and external audit supportEnable timely financial close and margin analysis through data analytics and visualizationWrangle large, highly complex datasets into actionable insights and become a data expert for losses accounting. Perform analysis, identify trends, conduct research, and build visualizations to deliver objective, critical insights that fulfill accounting and finance stakeholders’ needs Implement anomaly detection of automated accounting activity to identify potential misstatements in financial results Drive cross-functional projects, primarily partnering with FP&A, Financial Systems, and Product Engineers, to identify opportunities to help our stakeholders operate more efficiently and effectivelyWork independently to investigate the root cause of system breakages and drive both short and long-term resolutionWho you areWe're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.Minimum Requirements7+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experienceB.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)Fluency in U.S. GAAP Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiencesStrong knowledge of Excel and experience working with large data sets, often coming from multiple sourcesDemonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholdersExperience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution) Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing resultsSolution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practicesPreferred QualificationsCPA or similar qualificationExperience using SQL and knowledge of relational database structure to self-service informationKnowledge of (or experience in ) Payments or Tech industryExperience with Tableau, Alteryx, or other data insights or visualization toolsIn-office expectationsOffice-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.Pay and benefitsThe annual US base salary range for this role is $135,000 - $202,400. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
