Job Title: Associate AttorneyLocation: Los Angeles, CAEmployment Type: Full-TimePractice Area: Civil Litigation – Insurance DefensePosition OverviewOur firm is seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Attorney to join our Civil Litigation – Insurance Defense team in Los Angeles, CA. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex insurance defense matters, gain hands-on courtroom experience, and collaborate with seasoned trial attorneys.The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing cases while contributing to a collaborative legal environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of civil litigation matters, with a focus on insurance defense, from inception through trial or resolutionDraft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responsesConduct legal research and develop case strategiesTake and defend depositions, including expert and fact witnessesAttend court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trialsPrepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and exhibit coordinationCommunicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and court personnelAnalyze liability, damages, and risk exposure in insurance-related claimsParticipate in settlement negotiations and mediationsMaintain accurate billing records and meet billable hour requirementsQualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolActive California Bar license in good standing1–5 years of civil litigation experience (insurance defense experience preferred)Strong understanding of California civil procedure rulesExperience handling written discovery and depositionsExcellent legal research, writing, and analytical skillsAbility to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsPrior experience in insurance defense litigationTrial preparation and courtroom experienceFamiliarity with case management and billing softwareStrong negotiation and client relationship management skillsExperience working with insurance carriers on coverage and claims
