Proposal SpecialistDepartment: Product ManagementEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Redondo BeachCompensation: $85,000 - $120,000 / yearDescriptionAs a Proposal Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring Impulse produces high-quality proposals and other written materials for submission to competitive business opportunities. While writing proposals is a key element of the role, this role also involves interfacing with a wide range of teams across the company including Engineering, Finance, Legal, Mission Management, and Business Development. You will work alongside other members of the Business Development team to evaluate opportunities, formulate solutions, and communicate proposal strategies to the rest of the company. This is a technical role that involves reading, understanding, and summarizing technical requirements documents as part of the proposal process.ResponsibilitiesAct as a primary contributor to writing technical proposals and other externally facing documents used to pursue opportunitiesMaintain a clear technical understanding of the solutions Impulse has to offerRead, understand, and summarize the complex requirements of new customer opportunitiesCollect inputs from technical experts within the company to support writing effortsHelp develop supporting graphics and materials for proposalsEdit proposals for clarity, accuracy, and readabilityEnsure proposals are compliant with submission rulesHelp maintain repository of frequently used proposal informationWhen possible, assist other teams with writing, editing, and communication needsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree2+ years of experience in a similar roleProficiency with planning and managing schedulesPreferred Skills and ExperienceAbility to communicate technical material clearly and professionallyDegree in a technical field or a degree in journalism, English, technical writing, or professional writingExperience with writing government proposals or grantsTechnical knowledge related to the Aerospace IndustryStrong grasp of the English language, including nuance and toneDemonstrated ability to manage large writing projectsExperience writing academic papers or technical white papersAdditional InformationCompensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
