PART TIME CITY CLERK SPECIALIST

Summary DescriptionThe City of San Marcos welcomes qualified applications for the position of Part Time City Clerk Specialist. This position will be located within the City Clerk Department. The City Clerk is responsible for the citywide records management program including maintaining and protecting all vital, permanent and historic records.Hours RequiredMonday through Friday (alternating Fridays off): 4 hours per day, consistent scheduleApplications due by: 12:00pm, Friday, May 29th, 20261 st Interviews: June 11 th , 20262 nd Interviews: June 18 th , 2026REPRESENTATIVE DUTIESUnder supervision, performs a variety of clerical and filing duties necessary for the City Clerk Department, including, but not limited to, scanning, organizing and filing documents, typing, data entry, assisting with special projects; and performing related duties as assigned.Qualifications Knowledge of: Filing systems; modern office methods and practices; customer service; various office equipment and machines including copier, calculator, and computer utilizing various software programs including the Microsoft Office suite; letter writing; proofreading and editing; and basic business mathematics.Ability ToOperate office equipment including scanning, data entry keyboards, copy and fax equipment, printers; receive and apply such training as required; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; cooperatively handle a wide variety of tasks; effectively prioritize; perform all duties with composure; use good judgment in the scope of assigned authority; attention to detail; establish and maintain effective relationships with City employees and members of the public; and demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the community.Education And Experience Education/Experience: Education equivalent to high school graduate with experience and/or training providing the required knowledge and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position.
