Job Title Information Clerk I - C Pay Rate Min to Mid Range $17.55 - $20.18 Time Type Full time Summary Duties and Responsibilities:Answers routine questions over the telephone concerning auto, property tax and other Tax Office related inquiriesUpdates mailing addresses into computer and verifies information with government agencies such as Bexar Appraisal DistrictTypes forms and tax receipts and mails to requesting individualsFiles change of address cards and undeliverable tax statementsPrepares estimated calculations pertaining to auto and property taxResearches requests such as ownership of propertyNotifies customers by mail or phone of delays or denialsRoutes specialized license plates to appropriate Tax Office substationMay assist with re-calculating refunds to determine accuracyPerforms other duties as required Minimum Qualifications:High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate, and one (1) year office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of basic office procedures; knowledge of basic telephone etiquetteSkill in communicating with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacyAbility to operate a personal computer, typewriter, 10-key adding machine, telephone and basic office equipment; ability to accurately enter data and file information; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, outside organizations and the general publicMust secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearanceMust clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen testMust be able to maintain an effective attendance record/patternMay be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek Working Environment and Physical Demands:Working conditions are inside an office environmentPhysical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs. occasionallyOccasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment.
