Commercial PainterThe Commercial Painter prepares, finishes, and maintains interior and exterior surfaces on commercial buildings, including offices, warehouses, retail spaces, schools, and industrial facilities. This role requires strong technical painting skills, careful attention to detail, and a commitment to working safely and efficiently on active job sites.ResponsibilitiesPrepare, prime, and paint interior surfaces such as walls, ceilings, doors, trim, and specialty substrates to commercial-grade standards.Perform exterior commercial painting, including power washing, scraping, sanding, priming, and applying coatings to building exteriors, metal surfaces, and masonry.Carry out thorough surface preparation by caulking, patching, masking, filling, and ensuring all surfaces are properly prepared before coating.Operate airless and HVLP sprayers safely and efficiently for large-scale commercial painting projects.Follow OSHA guidelines and company safety procedures, consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain safe work practices on active commercial sites.Collaborate with crew leaders, project managers, and other trades to complete projects on schedule and according to scope.Set up job sites by protecting property, organizing materials, and staging equipment prior to work each day.Perform jobsite cleanup at the end of each shift, ensuring work areas are clean, organized, and safe.Interact professionally with property managers, business owners, contractors, and other stakeholders, representing the company with courtesy and respect.Read and follow job scopes, paint lists, and project instructions to deliver consistent, high-quality results.Essential SkillsPrevious experience as a commercial painter, including both interior and exterior projects.Strong paint preparation and finishing skills, including caulking, patching, sanding, masking, and priming.Proficiency with brushes, rollers, and spray equipment, including airless and HVLP sprayers.Ability to work safely on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding in a variety of commercial environments.Reliable transportation to travel to local job sites as required.Ability to read and understand job scopes, paint lists, and instructions, and to follow them accurately.Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.Ability to work effectively in active commercial environments, including after-hours or off-peak schedules when required.Commitment to following OSHA safety guidelines and using appropriate PPE at all times.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working on commercial construction or renovation projects.Familiarity with premium coatings and commercial-grade paint products.Comfort collaborating with other trades and project teams on multi-phase jobs.Interest in developing skills in lead painter, crew leader, estimator, or project manager roles over time.Willingness to participate in ongoing training on prep techniques, sprayer operation, safety practices, and new products.Why Work Here?You join a stable organization with consistent, reliable work and a steady flow of commercial projects, reducing seasonal gaps.
