NextJS/React Expert Architect/Engineer

Job DescriptionWe seeing an individual who is an expert in NextJS/React development that will primarily focus on resolving backend engineering challenges and blockers. You should be comfortable entering into a situation where there will be a singular focus on clearing the project’s backlog which means you will be resolving different types of issues across the application.You will be working on a headless e-commerce system and paywall membership site that is a replatforming and migration from a legacy WooCommerce/Wordpress site. This project partially implemented screaming architecture/domain driven design as part of a recent refactor.Uses NextJS 14’s app router for the web applicationDatoCMS is our CMSCrystallize is the e-commerce platform (GraphQL-based)Clerk is the authentication layerHookdeck is used for messaging/webhook syndicationInngest is used for background/long running jobsRudderstack & PostHog are the analytics acquisition layerSnowflake acts our CDP and reporting data sourceStripe & Braintree Paypal are the payment gatewaysVimeo is our video library/CDNCloudinary is our image and asset CDNZod for schema typing and validationPotential tasks include (easier to increasing difficulty)Ensure the NextJS not-found.tsx returns a 404 when using fallback renderingAsset migration from Box.com to CloudinaryValidating and improving the architecture to syndicate webhook messages from vendor platforms to Hookdeck & S3 and then to Inngest jobsSimple examples include password resets processed by Clerk need to trigger confirmation emailsMore complex one would be changes in Crystallize to our e-commerce catalog need to be syndicated to Snowflake for easy reportingReview Clerk integration with NextJS and ensure we’re leverage SSR and caching appropriatelyPropose and implement PostHog’s A/B testing (requires integration and modeling with DatoCMS) and ensure exposures and conversions are tracked - simple A/B/N page splits only as a first MVP for this featureReviewing Stripe & Paypal integrations for best practices and suggest any hardening and improvementsHelp architect and plan out the complete implementation of Voucherify (discounts and promotion platform)You will be working directly with the Head of Product & Platform who is the SME across the majority of the legacy and new platform. You should have experience in being a product focused engineer or have had experience of being a product manager. The goal is to develop a strong working relationship to solve these remaining issues and provide expert guidance and advice on the site’s infrastructure.You absolutely should have a strong understanding of NextJS’s app router and have worked on multiple projects using it. You should have a firm grasp of NextJS’s rendering models, caching (both in v14 and the upcoming changes in v15), React contexts and providers, state management (Zustand), domain/entity modeling, and Stripe’s API. DatoCMS experience is strongly preferred but you should have worked with other GraphQL CMS platforms that have modular content blocks/components. Experience with Rudderstack/PostHog/Segment are very much nice-to-have’s.
