PurposeThe Texas Institute for Electronics is looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Technician to support the startup and operation of a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
ResponsibilitiesInstall, calibrate, and maintain sensors, transducers, transmitters, and control systems across facilities equipment in a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA interfaces. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on control systems to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Support the integration of new instrumentation devices and controls methodologies into existing facility systems, including air handlers, water, waste, chemical, gas, and similar fab facility systems. Assist in the design and implementation of control strategies for facility systems and processes for a semiconductor manufacturing facility.
Configure and tune PID control loops for temperature, pressure, flow, and other process variables.
Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify inefficiencies or potential failures.
Collaborate with facility engineers, technicians, and fab personnel to optimize equipment performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain detailed documentation of instrumentation configurations, wiring diagrams, and maintenance logs.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry standards for cleanroom and high-tech manufacturing environments. Provide technical training and support to operations and maintenance personnel.
Participate in commissioning and startup activities for new and existing facility systems.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required QualificationsAssociate's degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
3+ years of hands-on experience in instrumentation and controls, preferably in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing.
Proficiency with instrumentation troubleshooting, industrial networking, and control system integration.
Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and semiconductor fabrication processes.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals.
Experience with data acquisition systems and industrial automation platforms.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsCertified Electrician
5+ Years relevant experience
PLC Programming experience
