This role involves developing reliable, scalable, and secure backend services that support our global operations and enhance the user experience. As a Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing APIs, workflows, and infrastructure that underpin our job matching, communication, and recruitment functionalities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend developers, and AI specialists, to deliver features rapidly and maintain high standards of quality. Your work will directly impact millions of users worldwide, enabling them to connect with opportunities efficiently and securely.QualificationsProven experience in backend development within production environments, with a strong understanding of building scalable and reliable systems.Proficiency in designing and implementing RESTful APIs, working with databases, and managing authentication and authorization protocols.Experience with message queues, event-driven architecture, and system integrations, preferably within fintech, payments, or similar domains.Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and incident management skills, with a focus on security, data integrity, and system observability.Ability to make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, scalability, security, and maintainability.Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, multicultural environment.Experience working on services used at scale by real customers or internal operations is highly desirable.Knowledge of fintech, payments, banking, wallet systems, KYC, fraud prevention, or risk management is a plus but not mandatory if core engineering fundamentals are solid.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs supporting user onboarding, account management, payments, card issuance, transfers, rewards, travel, FX, KYC, and risk management workflows.Create reliable, scalable systems capable of supporting millions of transactions across multiple markets and partners.Integrate internal systems, third-party payment providers, financial partners, AI services, and other external platforms to ensure seamless operations.Maintain high standards for system reliability, security, latency, and data quality while proactively monitoring and resolving incidents.Collaborate with product, frontend, mobile, and AI teams to deliver new features efficiently and safely, ensuring a smooth user experience.Optimize existing systems by simplifying workflows, automating manual tasks, and reducing operational overhead.Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold best practices and ensure maintainability.Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate innovative solutions to improve system performance and security.BenefitsGrabJobs offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support our employees' well-being and professional growth.
