Head Custodian - Elementary

Position Overview The Weston Public Schools is seeking to hire a Head Custodian for Woodland Elementary School. This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break, reporting to the Building Principal and the Director of Facilities. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 1,960 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 167 students (K-12). Key ResponsibilitiesEmbrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusionSupervise and train custodiansResponsible for operation of all building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, boilers, and temperature control systemsPrepare daily reports and other logsCheck the building for maintenance and security, including weekend building checks as required by contractRespond to emergency situationsMaintain grounds adjacent to the school building, including the playgroundMake minor repairsEstablish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, administrators, students, and familiesOther duties as assigned Desired QualificationsMaturity, flexibility, and comfort working as part of a teamStrong work ethic, with a track record of meeting deadlinesAble to understand and follow oral and written instructionsAble to understand and follow written and oral directionsSupervisor and communication skillsProficient use of computerized maintenance system including updating work orders daily to keep records accurate Compensation The compensation range for the Elementary Head Custodian will be $28.41 - $31.86. per hour (dependent on relative experience).
