Early Childhood Lead Teacher

Position Description: The Early Childhood Lead teacher is responsible for planning and implementing the curriculum, assessing the educational development of their students, communicating with families, and supporting the mission of the school.The Lead Teacher will:Plan and implement a well-balanced curriculum that includes daily activities designed to meet children's needs, consistent with best practices in early childhood development and educationPossess and utilize knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion pedagogy to plan and execute developmentally appropriate and engaging instructionCollaborate with co-teachers, learning specialists, and special subject teachersTeach developmentally appropriate and research-based early math and literacy skillsIncorporate elements of inquiry and project-based learningPlan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of our studentsUtilize observation and documentation to assess and monitor growth in all areas.Develop and administer developmentally appropriate assessments to evaluate student progress toward learning objectivesWork with learning specialists to identify students requiring differentiation and implement accommodations as necessaryMaintain a classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and safetyCommunicate regularly with families concerning student progress and information about academic programming and classroom eventsConduct parent-teacher conferences and write narrative progress reports twice a year to record and communicate students' progressSupport and supervise associate teachers or student teachers, as applicableManage classroom administrative tasks, including taking daily attendance and ordering materialsPerform dismissal, lunch, and recess duties as assignedPlan field trips and other activities to enrich the educational experienceAttend and contribute to scheduled staff meetings, as well as all-school events (Back-to-School Nights, parent conferences, admissions events, etc.) that may take place outside of regular work hoursEngage in regular professional development opportunities to ensure continual growth and renewalFamiliarity with the National Association of the Education of Young Children's Developmentally Appropriate PracticesAssume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the head of school, associate head, or division headREQUIREMENTS:Master's degree in education or a related field preferredExperience working with children in this age range (age 3-5)Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleaguesCommitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience with project-based learning preferredThe Chestnut Hill School Offers :Eligibility for health, dental, and vision care benefits.Professional development opportunities and training.Easy access to public transportation (Chestnut Hill D Line stop) with paid MBTA passes.A collaborative team approach and supportive work environment.Opportunity to earn additional compensation through before-school or after-school careThe Chestnut Hill School is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, sex, disabilities, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression or family composition or any other status protected by applicable law in the administration of its employment, education, admission, financial aid, and other policies and programs.It is unlawful in Massachusetts to require or administer a lie detector test as a condition of employment or continued employment.
