Job Title: Bilingual and ESL (BESL) Instructional SpecialistWage/Hour Status: Salaried PositionReports to: Director of Bilingual and ESL ProgramsDept./School: Bilingual and ESL ProgramsPosition Summary:The BESL Instructional Specialist will collaborate with campus leaders, teachers, and members of the BESL team to strengtheninstructional practices that support Emergent Bilingual (EB) students. This role includes analyzing student performance data,monitoring academic progress, and providing targeted coaching and professional development to ensure high-quality instructionthat promotes academic success for EB students.Qualifications:Education/Certification: Must meet one of the following:? Bachelor's degree from an accredited university? Valid Texas Teaching Certification for secondary education? Valid Texas ESL Certification? Master's degree in educational leadership or curriculum and instruction (preferred) ? Texas principal ormid-level management certification (preferred)Experience:? Experience working in elementary and secondary schools? 1+ years coaching teachers? Experience with Texas graduation requirements? Experience with meeting the needs of At-Risk Emergent Bilingual StudentsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):? Knowledge of Texas personal graduation plans? Knowledge of secondary grade level pacing? Knowledge of the Texas graduation requirements? Knowledge of Texas Assessment Program, district curriculum, and Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills? Demonstrate deep knowledge of the ELPS (English Language Proficiency Skills)? Demonstrate a deep knowledge of content-based sheltered instruction (CBLI).? Facilitates implementation of curriculum using EB accommodations.? Ability to use computers proficiently for word processing, development of presentations and record-keeping? Ability to work collaboratively? Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills? Travel to Texas campuses to assist campus directors and teachers with data analysis and personal graduation plans forEmergent Bilingual (EB) students.? Communicate with ESL Coordinators and Campus Directors to review EB student personal graduation plans toensure graduation with their cohort.? Assist with curriculum alignment, instruction strategies, and data analysis to ensure students are graduating? Meets with campus stakeholders to review student data to adjust instruction for small group pull-outs.? Provides support to teachers in their classrooms through coaching, modeling, and mentoring best practices for EBstudents.? Creates positive relationships with teachers, coordinators, and campus directors.? Assist schools interpret the instructional program to parents.? Maintain documentation in Google Drive and other pertinent documentation for the BEESL Department? Maintain accurate records of activities and results of efforts? Attend mandatory staff development training to perform job functions and improve LPAC complianceAdditional Responsibilities? Must be able to travel 50% or more as needed? Must maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem solving skills? Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)? Must be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for decision-making? Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner. Observe all safety precautions?
