Molding Operator Assistant - 2nd or 3rd Shift

The molding department at Schunk Carbon Technology produces parts, such as small seals for pumps that are made of a thermoset material in a high volume/ low mix operation. We operate multiple machines that require regular monitoring, cleaning and may need adjustments to maintain continuous automatic operation. Under the direction of the Molding Set-Up Operator, the Molding Assistant operates and maintains compression injection molding machines and several deburring operation machines such as a Wheelabrator, degater, and tumbler. Additional responsibilities include: Operate and maintain molding presses proper temperatures, cycle time, and vacuum units Assist with the removal and installation of molds from presses and load parts into the appropriate deburring machine operation Inspect and identify defective materials, parts, and machine malfunctions to be addressed by the Molding Set-Up Operator, this included monitoring parts as they pass through the vision system. Keep molds clean and vents open; fiber brush molds on an hourly basis Load and operate Wheelabrator/tumbler to remove flash/scale from parts for specified finish Carefully perform uniform cleaning that is necessary for molders to operate properly, avoiding damage to or breakage of parts If parts require degating, load parts in the degater hopper and adjust abrasive and cycling time to suit cleaning requirements. Shifts Available: 2nd & 3rd Shifts Minimum Education/Experience: GED preferred This job requires a fundamental knowledge of machine shop operations through short job training and experience.
