Job DescriptionThe Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver high-quality outpatient rehabilitation services. The PTA implements treatment plans, provides hands-on care, educates patients, and supports clinic operations while promoting excellent clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care
Carry out physical therapy treatment plans established by the supervising Physical TherapistProvide therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, balance training, and functional activitiesAdminister approved modalities (e.g., heat, ice, e-stim, ultrasound, traction) per PT directionMonitor patient response to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes to the supervising PTEnsure patient safety at all times during treatment sessionsProvide patient education on exercises, posture, body mechanics, and home exercise programsDocumentation
Complete accurate, timely, and compliant daily treatment notesDocument objective measures, patient response, and functional progressCommunicate clearly with the supervising PT regarding patient status and goalsClinic Operations
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized treatment areaAssist with equipment setup, breakdown, and basic maintenanceSupport clinic flow by managing time effectively and staying on scheduleCollaborate with front-office staff and therapy team to ensure smooth patient experiencesProfessional Conduct
Maintain ethical and professional behavior in accordance with state and federal regulationsComply with all clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, and payer guidelinesParticipate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as requiredPreferred
Outpatient orthopedic experienceExperience with manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise progressionFamiliarity with EMR documentation systemsSpanish-speaking (preferred but not required)Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the clinic for extended periodsAbility to lift, assist, and transfer patients as needed (up to 50 lbs)Manual dexterity for hands-on treatment techniquesWork Environment
