Staff Backend Engineer — Series A AI Startup ($250M+ valuation)San Francisco (On-site) | $290K–$350K + equity | Sponsorship and transfers are availableI'm working with a Series A AI startup (valued at $250M+), hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to shape the technical direction of their backend and agent infrastructure.The problem you'd help solve:Enterprise support teams are buried in tickets, and it's hard to trust AI to handle them with the reliability and uptime large customers expect.You'd help figure out how to scale agents that safely resolve 50,000+ tickets a day over voice and chat for major enterprise customers.This isn't an advisory role. You'll write code, own systems, and ship, but you'll also decide what the team should be building next and how. The highest-stakes, most ambiguous problems land on your desk.You'll likely be a fit if you have:Around 7–15 years in backend / infrastructure engineering, or equivalent staff-level experienceCurrently at staff level (L6/E6 equivalent) or recently promotedDeep Python backend experience - Django or FastAPI in productionStrong distributed systems backgroundExperience at a high-growth SaaS startup or top-tier tech companyStill writing production code - this isn't a pure architect roleThe package:$290K–$350K base (based on experience)Meaningful equity at a $250M+ valuationOn-site, San FranciscoSponsorship and transfers availableIf this fits, DM me with a quick note on what you're building now.
