We’re looking for a Software Engineer who thrives across the full stack—from Linux-based device clients to modern cloud platforms.In this role, you’ll design and build systems that connect physical hardware to cloud services, enabling healthcare organizations to provision, monitor, and manage thousands of devices at scale. You’ll work on a small, highly collaborative team with significant ownership and direct impact on product direction.This is a hands-on engineering role, not a maintenance position—you’ll be building new features, shaping architecture, and helping unify multiple platforms into a single, scalable system.What You’ll DoBuild Linux-based client applications that bridge hardware peripherals to cloud services (e.g., serial, HID, system interfaces)Develop webview-based device UIs with JavaScript-to-native/system integrationsDesign and implement Spring Boot REST APIs and React-based frontendsCreate and enhance web-based admin interfaces for provisioning, monitoring, configuration, and analyticsExtend and maintain an existing Java/Jersey-based fleet management portalSupport and evolve a Python/Django IoT platformImplement API proxy and composition patterns to integrate legacy and modern systemsDesign and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, including hierarchical data modelsWork with AWS cloud services, including IoT Core, Greengrass, ECS, S3, Lambda, and CognitoBuild and deploy containerized applications using Docker and CI/CD pipelinesContribute to system integration design between embedded devices and cloud platformsTroubleshoot and resolve complex production issuesDocument technical designs, APIs, and operational processesCollaborate on architecture, code reviews, and engineering best practicesRequired Qualifications 7–15 years of software engineering experienceMust reside within a 50-mile radius of Petaluma, CAMust be authorized to work in the United States Strong experience building IoT or hardware-adjacent applications on Linux systemsProficiency with:Java (Spring Boot, REST APIs, Maven)Python/DjangoReact (hooks, state management, component architecture)Solid Linux systems experience (CLI, system-level debugging)Experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, migrations) and familiarity with MySQLHands-on experience with AWS services (ECS, S3, Lambda, Cognito)Experience with Docker and containerized deploymentsFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)Strong understanding of REST API design and documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger)Experience working across multiple layers of the stackPreferred QualificationsExperience with AWS IoT (IoT Core, Greengrass, edge computing)Additional backend experience (e.g., Node.js/Express)Modern Java experience (Spring Boot 3.x, Java 17+ / 21)Experience with IoT device provisioning, telemetry, or fleet management systemsFamiliarity with time-series data systems (e.g., Timestream, Kinesis)Knowledge of OAuth2 / OpenID Connect / CognitoExperience migrating or consolidating legacy systemsBackground working with inherited or contractor-built codebasesExperience in healthcare, medical devices, or regulated environmentsExposure to iOS/iPad application developmentAbout The Team & ProductGCX/Lilitab designs and manufactures medical carts and mounting solutions used in healthcare environments across the U.S. Our software team is building IoT solutions that bring these devices online—enabling real-time monitoring, remote management, and operational insights.You’ll join a small, high-impact team (3–4 engineers) working across:A Java-based tablet/peripheral management platformA Python-based IoT system for medical cartsYou’ll play a key role in evolving these into a unified fleet management platform.What Success Looks LikeYou take ownership of features end-to-end, from design to deploymentYou’re comfortable navigating and improving complex, mixed-technology systemsYou contribute to a growing engineering culture with strong standards and practicesYou can quickly understand and extend unfamiliar codebasesCore CompetenciesCloud Architecture (AWS)IoT & Edge ComputingREST API DesignJava / Spring Boot DevelopmentReact Frontend DevelopmentDatabase Design & OptimizationContainerization & Deployment (Docker, ECS)System Migration & Platform ConsolidationSoftware Development Lifecycle (SDLC)Testing & CI/CDVersion Control (Git)Why Join UsBuild software that directly impacts healthcare deliveryWork on real-world IoT systems connecting hardware and cloudHigh ownership in a small, fast-moving teamOpportunity to shape architecture and engineering practicesBe part of a major platform transformation
