Fund Accountant (New York)
**Temp Role**Only candidates who have worked at or have used Carta will be reviewedOur client, a growing venture capital firm based in New York, NY, is seeking a Fund Accountant with 2–4 years of experience supporting closed-end fund structures, including private equity and/or venture capital. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and reporting functions across a portfolio of funds and will work closely with senior members of the finance and operations teams. Prior experience at a fund administrator, public accounting firm (Big 4 or large regional), or direct LP/GP is required. Candidates must have hands on experience with Carta fund accounting platform.Responsibilities include:Prepare and review NAV calculations, capital account statements, and investor allocationsMaintain books and records for closed-end private equity and/or venture capital fundsProcess capital calls, distributions, and management fee calculationsAssist with quarterly and annual financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP/IFRSReconcile fund-level cash, positions, and portfolio investmentsPrepare and review waterfall calculations and carried interest allocationsAssist with investor reporting, including quarterly letters and capital account statementsRequirements:1–4 years of fund accounting experience, with a focus on closed-end structures (private equity, venture capital, or credit)Prior experience at a fund administrator, public accounting firm (Big 4 or large regional), or direct LP/GP preferredCandidates coming directly out of Big 4 or large public accounting firms with alternative investment audit experienceStrong understanding of partnership accounting, capital allocations, and waterfall mechanicsPrior experience working with Carta fund accounting platform
